CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING

Pocket City Farms is a not for profit organisation - the pillars of our work are local food, education and community. We have created a Corporate Volunteer Program to enable an authentic on-farm experience where people from your organisation or company can not only get their hands dirty doing some meaningful, supportive community work, but also gain knowledge and skills that they can take back into their workplace and personal lives.  By getting involved in corporate volunteering at Pocket City Farms, you are directly supporting the work we do in developing urban farms in our cities, for local food production, community and school education programs and increased green space and biodiversity.

The Corporate Volunteering experience is three hours long and includes two options:

Community Food Forest

• FARM TOUR - an introduction to the farm and farm tour for some background on why and how the farm was established and we'll talk about the food we grow, and the work we do to support and engage the local community and our schools program.
• HANDS-ON SESSION - An educational work session in the Community Food Forest guided by the season - this could include weeding, pruning, mulching, feeding the plants - any seasonal maintenance that the plants will need plus the chance to forage.
• MORNING/AFTERNOON TEA - with herbal teas, cool drinks and tasty treats made from farm produce (GF and vegan options available).
• WORKSHOP - The final part of the session is a skills session with some items to take home and nurture. Participants will learn propagation techniques for food forest plants to replenish the plants in the Food Forest, plus take some home to grow for themselves.

Urban Farming
