FARM OPEN DAY

Ever wondered exactly what we do? How to get involved? How you can support the local food and urban farming movement? Join our team for a farm open day on the winter solstice, to find out more about what Pocket City Farms does, and the many, many ways you can get involved on your local community urban farm!

Join a workshop, crop swap, farm tour, the winter solstice lantern farm walk, share a meal at the pot luck dinner, or simply come by our stall to chat to us about community and education programs, or to pick up some veg.

POCKET CITY FARMS PRODUCE & INFO STALLS 
Visit the our stall on our annual Open Day. We’ll have a good harvest of veg, fruit and herbs available from the farm and other local organic farmers, plus own farm preserves, honey from local beekeepers, tees and totes. We’ll also be available to provide you with loads of info and answers on our work and on how to get involved with the farm.

CROP SWAP 
Visit us for our monthly swap with Crop Swap Sydney and share your home-grown and homemade goodies with others in the community
1:30pm-3pm 
Free | all ages | bring your homegrown or homemade items to trade

SEED RAISING & PAPER POT MAKING 
This family-friendly workshop will get you started in the art of making your own paper pots and growing your own seedlings from seed. Learn the best techniques and mediums before heading home with your seedling to get your family patch growing.

URBAN FARM TOUR 
Take a tour of our Sydney urban farm. We’ll guide you through why we’re farming in the city, the benefits of urban farming, our daily operations and farming methods, and take a walk through the different areas of the farm.

INTRO TO SAUERKRAUT 
Join us on our Farm Open Day to learn how to make this versatile probiotic rich food to offer support to your immune system, aid your digestion and control your sugar cravings. Wild fermented sauerkraut has delicious complex flavours, incredible textures while doing you a world of good!

WINTER SOLSTICE LANTERN MAKING & FARM WALK 
Join us on our Farm Open Day to celebrate the winter solstice and the turning of the seasons with our family-friendly lantern-making session. We’ll gather to craft paper lanterns and then light them up as the sun sets for a ceremony and twilight nature walk through the farm on the longest night of the year.

COMMUNITY POT LUCK DINNER 
6pm 
PCF community, neighbours, friends and future friends, join us for a winter solstice feast to celebrate a our shortest day of the year and the beginning of a new farming season ahead!
