Introducing Pocket City Farms Virtual Farm Tour

Understanding that not every class can visit our Sydney-based farm in person, Pocket City Farms has created an immersive Virtual Farm Tour. This educational journey allows students to explore our Camperdown urban farm, food forest, and sustainability hub directly from their classroom. Designed to engage and educate, the tour includes an in-depth look at our operations and answers to key questions covering essential teaching objectives.

What the Virtual Tour Offers

Benefits of the Virtual Farm Tour

This 45-minute virtual excursion offers a one-off, low-fee access, allowing you to revisit the tour as many times as needed over the cvoutse of 12 months. It’s an ideal resource for both primary and high school students, supporting curriculum goals related to science, sustainability, and agriculture. As Pocket City Farms is a charity, all fees contribute to our educational and fair food programs, aiding in the provision of fresh produce to vulnerable and homeless individuals in our local community.

Essential information

  • Our Urban Farm offers a unique educational excursion that combines Hands-On Farming with an Urban Farm Adventure Course (UFAC). The experience is tailored to enrich students’ understanding of Regenerative Agriculture through hands-on activities and inquiry-based learning aligned with the Science & Technology and Geography syllabus'.

    Each excursion to PCF includes the following activities;

    1. UFAC: Students engage with stage-based inquiry questions through an integrated farm tour and data collection stations that challenge their understanding and application of scientific concepts.

    2. Hands-On Farming: Students partake in authentic Urban Farm Tasks in a tangible setting, gaining practical experience in Urban Agriculture.

  • Weekdays - Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays

    2-Hour Program:

    9:30 - 9:45 AM: Arrival, Introduction, and Safety Rules
    9:45 - 11:15 AM: UFAC & Hands-On Farming
    11:15 - 11:30 AM: Conclusion and Departure

    3-Hour Program:

    9:30 - 9:45 AM: Arrival, Introduction, and Safety Rules
    9:45 - 11:45 AM: UFAC
    11:45 - 12:15 PM: Hands-On Farming
    12:15 - 12:30 PM: Conclusion and Departure

    4-Hour Program (Includes 1 hr Lunch Break):

    9:30 - 9:45 AM: Arrival, Introduction, and Safety Rules
    9:45 - 11:30 AM: Morning Session:
    - Group 1: UFAC & Group 2: Hands-On Farming

    11:30 - 12:30 PM: Lunch Break

  • The safety of everyone visiting is important to us, we encourage you to read our Risk Management Information before attending Pocket City Farms for an excursion.

    Please let us know if you have any specific concerns or other precautions you’d like to discuss.

  • Depending on the program and the dates chosen, we can accommodate ~120 students rotating around the farm at one time, however if you are planning an excursion for more students than this, get in touch and we’ll find a solution.

  • Please get in touch so that we can provide you with a quote. We have a minimum $600 booking fee, plus GST.

    Pocket City Farms is a registered charity. Your fees are a contribution to continuing the work we do in fair food, education and community. Thank you for supporting our farm project by way of your excursion booking.

  • We are located at 31A Mallett St, Camperdown. Close to Newtown and Parramatta Road. Please see below some travel options.

    TRAIN + 15 minute walk //
    Catch a train to Newtown station and walk straight down Australia Street. Cross through Camperdown Park and you will reach Camperdown Commons.

    BUS //
    Buses run frequently from Central Station to the Bridge Road school bus stop on Parramatta Rd.
    Bus routes include: 413, 436, 438, 439, 440, 480, 483 + M10

    HIRED BUSES + PARKING // Buses will be able to pull into the side carpark between the farm and Camperdown Park to drop off. However they will then need to go and find parking on a local street. Parking is regularly monitored and are 2 hour limits. There’s also a Secure Carpark on Grose St that can be utilised.

  • Once booking is confirmed & invoice issued, booking can be cancelled, or re-scheduled to a different date at no charge up to 4 weeks before event. Cancellation of booking 2 - 4 weeks before event will be charged at the minimum booking fee ($600 ex GST). Re-scheduling of booking 2 - 4 weeks before the event will incur a reschedule fee of $200.
