Back by popular demand, is the spoon master himself, Jeff Donne. Imagine the satisfaction of scooping up a homemade lunch with a unique and beautiful wooden spoon made with your own hands. You can do this, anyone can. All you need is a few hours with the Spoonsmith. He'll show you how to safely use the simple tools and carve your own wooden cutlery. Learn an age-old craft and discover the sense of meditation and slowness to be found in whittling one of life's essential objects.

A day spoon carving with Spoonsmith is an unhurried and mellow experience where you learn to use the tools of the trade in a safe and effective way. This workshop will guide you through the stages of axe work, knife work and hollowing out the bowl (that exciting part of the day when the spoon emerges). Learn about sourcing sustainable materials, the basics of traditional tool use, and how to safely turn a log into your favourite wooden utensil. Everyone starts with a log of sustainably sourced native timber and ends up with a spoon or two! And all the shavings will be composted at our farm.

Suitable for: Adults (16+). All skill levels, no experience needed.

Cost: $160.

Provided: All materials, tools and a protective apron.

Bring: Covered shoes and a willingness to whittle.

Teacher: The Spoonsmith, Jeff Donne, is from Pambula on the beautiful NSW Sapphire Coast. He makes wooden cutlery buddies to take with you on your favourite foodie adventures. He starts with a sustainably sourced tree and uses only simple handtools and a sprinkling of lost ways to make a range of soulful goods. Shaping wood by hand for the sake of happy growing and eating is something that he likes to share, so he also passes these skills onto others through a range of little courses to suit everyone from beginners up.
