POSTPONED FARM CHATS // FARMING IN A CHANGING CLIMATE

Drought. Catastrophic Fire. Endless days of heavy smoke pollution. Torrential rain and storms. Sydney, New South Wales, and all of Australia have been through some extremes this summer. Fellow growers have run out of water on their properties, or had their crops burnt in fires. How do farmers and growers respond to these changing conditions? We want to bring forward stories from growers in our community who are feeling the effects first hand, providing a time to listen and understand what is happening.

FARM CHATS // BEES

September Farm Chats we are focusing on BEES! It’s estimated that a third of the food we eat is pollinated by bees, and without them our days on this Earth are numbered, and with heavy use of pesticides and the global phenomenon that is colony collapse disorder their risk of future extinction is a real possibility. So what can we do? How do we help maintain healthy populations of bees - both native and honeybees - that is natural and respectful to them? We’ll introduce you to four people working with bees guided in discussion by Costa Georgiadis for an evening of heartfelt discussion on our favourite little insect friends.
